It is time to start thinking about getting together for the next European Neurofibromatosis Meeting... the 16th!!!
Without doubt the field of Neurofibromatosis and related disorders has progressed enormously in the last two decades. Advances have been made in cell culture studies, the discovery of disease-causing genes, a better understanding of molecular pathogenesis, the development of animal models, the fostering of pre-clinical and clinical trials, to mention only some of the areas. However, there are still many challenges ahead and many problems still to solve.
We would like to create an ideal environment to promote interaction and synergies amongst us and generate fruitful collaborations. We imagine a meeting format which both specialists and patients will enjoy.
2014 will be a year full of activities related to the Neurofibromatoses. We would like to organize a meeting that fits well in this context, avoiding overlapping with other meetings and actions and at the same time potentiating the strengths of European neurofibromatosis research and activities.
In this Neurofibromatosis meeting we would like to give voice to neurofibromatosis researchers starting their careers, emerging researchers or important voices that have not been represented enough within the NF community. At the same time we would like to bring to the table researchers who are working on interesting technologies or biomedical fields that can introduce new ideas to the NF field. It is also our intention to cover a wide range of biological, medical and social themes that are related to neurofibromatosis diseases but are also of interest to patients and families.
We would like to reach a dynamic meeting format, providing plenty of space for talks selected from submitted abstracts in order to present the most up to date research and advances in the field that are being cooked in the different labs and clinics. We would like to give importance to posters and to interaction among participants so we will try to create the right environment for this to happen. We would also like to potentiate the interaction between PhD students and post-docs and for this reason we will create a special event for them. We would also like to create an ideal environment to promote interaction and synergies amongst us and generate fruitful collaborations. We imagine a meeting format which both specialists and patients will enjoy.
This 16th European Neurofibromatosis meeting will feature a Scientific Programme for researchers and clinicians; a Programme for patients and families; and will also hold a half-day meeting for Spanish national experts to agree on a Consensus Guidelines for Clinical Management of NF Patients in Spain
We will do our best to prepare a unique meeting in a welcoming and dynamic city next to the beautiful Mediterranean Sea.
